Aila Ferguson

Supervising Attorney, Client Intake Workgroup

Aila Ferguson

Aila Ferguson supervises intake receptionists. She works with the team to connect community members with LAFLA attorneys and paralegals or to find the right referral.

Prior to joining LAFLA, Aila was the Staff Attorney at Break the Cycle where she represented young people navigating relationship and family violence. She also worked at Legal Services for Prisoners with Children, helping currently and formerly incarcerated parents to maintain family ties. During her tenure there, she oversaw the prison correspondence program and criminal justice debt policy work. Aila began her career as a Legal Fellow for the ACLU of Southern California, providing direct representation on criminal justice debt matters and creating a toolkit for pro se advocates.

Aila received her BA from Occidental College in Critical Theory and Social Justice, and her JD from UCLA School of Law, with emphases in Public Interest Law and Policy as well as Critical Race Studies.
