Asian Pacific Islander Community Outreach Project

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles created the Asian Pacific Islander (API) Community Outreach Project to serve APIs who do not speak English as their dominant language, providing the full range of services that LAFLA offers.

LAFLA was one of the first legal aid programs in the U.S. to create a specialized project to deliver linguistically and culturally intelligent multilingual services. The API Community Outreach Project has become a local leader in providing legal services to API communities—and partners with other organizations to offer clinics throughout Greater Los Angeles. See the full schedule of clinics.

The API Community Outreach Project also operates Asian-language hotlines in Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Khmer, Vietnamese, and Japanese to assist clients.

LAFLA has conducted pioneering language rights advocacy work to ensure that APIs have greater access to the courts, government benefits, and other social services. See our Media Center for recent stories.
