Amanda Golob began her legal career in New Orleans. She moved to the Big Easy shortly after Hurricane Katrina to help rebuild the city after Katrina’s devastation and destruction. Joining Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) in the Tenants’ Rights unit, she started as an AmeriCorps/Equal Justice Works fellow in 2008, became a staff attorney in 2010, and was promoted to managing attorney in 2014. In 2022, when the City of New Orleans passed their Right to Counsel (RTC) for evictions ordinance, Amanda was tasked with supervising the RTC program, in which any tenant who wanted an attorney for an eviction could access one for free. Through this program, SLLS and its partners were able to provide 100% of tenants in New Orleans counsel, if requested. This decreased eviction rates by over 60%.
Amanda has received the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Legal Service Excellence in Advocacy Award (2020) and the New Orleans Bar Association’s Mark Moreau Public Interest Award (2024). She chaired Louisiana’s statewide Housing and Consumer Task Force from 2008–2017. She earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law (2008) and her B.A. from UC Berkeley (2005). She is admitted to the Louisiana bar, the Eastern District of Louisiana, and is a Registered Legal Aid Attorney in California.
Returning to her hometown of Los Angeles, Amanda brings with her a breadth of experience in tenant advocacy to advance housing justice locally.
