Our on-site Medical Legal Partnerships work with healthcare professionals to identify and help patients reach their optimal health. MLP attorneys and paralegals holistically advocate on behalf of patients in substantive legal areas impacting the social determinants of health such as housing, family law, immigration, public benefits, and re-entry. This is a great opportunity for advocates seeking legal experience in a variety of substantive areas.

LAFLA is currently accepting applications for the position of Admin Coordinator – MLP.


• One (1) year relevant work or volunteer experience preferred.
• Must be computer proficient; has experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point;
• Experience interviewing individuals in crisis and/or providing assistance to individuals who have low-income;
• Excellent customer service, and written and verbal communication skills;
• Self-motivated, organized, and ability to manage a high-volume caseload;
• Comfortable with case management systems and other technology;
• Commitment to social justice;
• Good written and oral communications skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently;
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; and
• Ability to work collaboratively with all LAFLA staff, clients, and community organizations.

Examples of Duties:

• Prepare drafts of routine correspondence and other legal documents and court forms for attorney review;
• Under the supervision of an attorney, conducts intake and handles cases that involve housing, family, government benefits law, and other criminal related legal issues;
• Performs a variety of responsible administrative duties, such as maintaining electronic and hardcopy filing systems and generating reports, answering inquiries over the phone or in person, case management system data entry, and managing administrative details with minimum direction;
• Works collaboratively with case managers, paralegals, and attorneys to provide holistic services and referrals;
• Opens and closes intakes in real time;
• Files legal pleadings with the court;
• Maintains timely and organized case notes and files;
• Coordinates logistic and administrative aspects of various projects, including creating and maintaining clinic schedules; updating forms, brochures, templates, and Power Point presentations; and preparing/sending out materials;
• Participates in community outreach projects; and
• Other duties as assigned.
