Our 2022 Annual Report is Here

LAFLA is proud to announce the release of our 2022 Annual Report. In 2022, LAFLA’s services benefited more than 100,000 people, including these clients whose stories we feature in the annual report:

  • Frances, a Long Beach resident who, with LAFLA’s help, was able to reach a settlement that allowed her to stay in her home of 10 years after her landlord attempted to unlawfully evict her with only 3-days notice;
  • Teyana, a Ukrainian refugee, who fled to the U.S. with her young daughter after the Russian invasion, and was able to access legal protections, obtain work authorization, and apply for asylum with LAFLA’s support;
  • Varela, a former student who was victimized by a school that was fraudulently exploiting students for profit, and was able to clear her student loan debt with LAFLA’s assistance.

In addition, be sure to check out the message from LAFLA Executive Director Silvia Argueta and Board President Amy Lerner-Hill

“At the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, expanding equal access is a core principle of our work to achieve justice for our communities … In 2022, as the worst impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic began to ebb, we were grateful for the opportunity to reopen our in-person services and once again meet our clients face-to-face. In our 2022 annual report, you’ll learn about the many ways we furthered justice in housing; economic stability; gender and the family; race equity; and language rights for and with our clients.”
