Our 2021 Annual Report is Here

LAFLA is proud to announce the release of our 2021 Annual Report. Learn how LAFLA has provided holistic legal services to vulnerable Angelenos throughout the worst public health disaster in more than a century — and how we rose to the challenges of 2021 with resilience, compassion, and creativity. In 2021, LAFLA served more than 100,000 people, including these clients whose stories we feature in the annual report:

  • Charles, a veteran who after being outed during his military service, overcame discrimination and mental illness to receive full benefits and backpay with LAFLA’s help;
  • Zerita, a tenant and housing activist who is fighting gentrification and with LAFLA’s help, formed a thriving community land trust [pictured above with members of the L.A. Community Land Trust Coalition];
  • Ramon, a former student who was victimized by a for-profit school, and was able to clear his student loan debt with LAFLA’s support.

In addition, be sure to check out the message from LAFLA Executive Director Silvia Argueta and Board President Michael Maddigan

“The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles has been a stalwart advocate for Angelenos living in poverty for more than 90 years…. While the year 2021 proved to be extraordinarily difficult in many respects, we are stronger because of it. We thank you for reading our 2021 Annual Report, where we reflect upon our progress and recognize the many positive strides we have made together.”
