Stay Housed L.A.

Stay Housed L.A.is a partnership between Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles and local community and legal service providers. Together, we provide Los Angeles County residents with information and resources to keep people in their homes.

Legal Assistance

The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is the lead legal services provider of Stay Housed L.A., which launched in summer 2020. We work with nine partner organizations to provide free legal assistance to tenants facing wrongful eviction, landlord harassment, slum conditions, and other issues. Income-eligible tenants receive the legal help they need to stay in their homes.

Community Education

Stay Housed L.A. also provides workshops and educational resources for tenants through our community organization partners. Knowledge is power — understanding their rights keeps more tenants from becoming unhoused.

Impact

Since summer 2020, Stay Housed L.A. partners have provided 15,000+ tenants with legal counsel and representation; hosted 550+ educational events (workshops and clinics); and reached 625,000+ tenants with Know Your Rights information. See below for a video testimonial from a tenant who LAFLA helped through Stay Housed L.A.
