Statement from Barbara Schultz, Director of Housing Justice at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) in response to Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto’s delays finalizing the City of Los Angeles’ contract with Stay Housed LA for eviction defense and tenant protections: “Having negotiated in good faith
William waited 27 years for a second chance. You helped make it possible.
William was initially denied a contractor’s license because of a past conviction, despite the progress he had made in turning his life around. With support from LAFLA, he was able to present strong evidence of his rehabilitation. As a result, a judge recognized his progress and granted him the license.
