Attorneys will explain the basics on how to handle a DACA renewal case in light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on DACA from June 18, 2020 and Covid-19 shelter-in-place restrictions. The training will provide a brief overview of the eligibility requirements for DACA, offer tips on how to draft forms, collect evidence, obtain client signatures, and filing with USCIS while observing shelter-in-place practices.

Gracie D. Johnson is a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. Her practice focuses on removal defense and representing individuals before USCIS. Ms. Johnson began working with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles in February of 2019. Prior to joining LAFLA, Ms. Johnson worked in private practice where she handled criminal defense, removal defense and family law cases. Ms. Johnson has represented individuals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has been licensed to practice law in California since June of 2011. She is fluent in Spanish.
Erin Gunter is a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles working with the Medical Legal Partnership at TCC Family Health in Long Beach. Her practice area focuses on immigration representing individuals before USCIS but includes housing, education, employment, public benefits, and family law. Ms. Gunter started as a fellow at LAFLA in August 2017 after graduating form the University of California Davis School of Law. She has been licensed to practice law in California since December 2017.
