Funding

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles receives funding from a wide range of public and private sources including government agencies, law firms, corporations, foundations and individual donors. Our largest funding source is Legal Services Corporation (LSC), a nonprofit corporation established by Congress in 1974. LSC operates as an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation that promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. Additional funding is provided by grants from the State Bar of California Legal Services Trust Fund Program (IOLTA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement, the U.S. Department of Justice, the California State Equal Access Fund, the California Department of Social Services, Los Angeles County, the City of Santa Monica, the United Nations, and private foundations including the California Endowment, the California Community Foundation and the Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation. We also value the contributions of numerous law firms, private attorneys, corporations and the public. Thank you all for your generous and continued support. See how your contributions are helping our clients.
